AFTER 559 days, Kianna Dy made her much-awaited PVL comeback and debut with the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Tears began to flow in Dy's eyes upon realizing that she has reached the light at the end of a long, dark tunnel — one that often left her frustrated and even hopeless.
“I haven't played the game for a year now. To be with new teammates, since I'm new sa team, I'm super excited to play because I was with my team before in the past years,” an emotional Dy said.
“I'm still trying to get to my 100 percent and I'm slowly getting there. It hasn't been easy, but thankfully with my teammates and my coaches, they make it easier for me kahit hirap na hirap na ako.”

The catch in KKD’s comeback? It wasn’t even planned for tonight.
“Dapat hindi pa siya today kasi based du’n sa progress ng recovery niya, kaka-try niya lang mag-back-to-back. Naka-isang beses pa lang siyang mag-back-to-back na hard training so ini-incorporate pa rin namin siya unti-unti,” PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort bared.
“Nasubukan nang maaga-aga pero happy kami na nakakabalik na siya nang unti-unti at dadahan-dahanin lang namin.”
It was back in July 20, 2023 in now-defunct F2 Logistics’ Invitational Conference semifinals loss to Creamline where Dy hurt her right knee and has missed action since.
The 29-year-old outside spiker no longer suited up for the Cargo Movers until their eventual disbandment five months later.
Between then and the night she finally stepped on the taraflex again, Dy takes pride with the patience she showed with herself, and the maturity that came with handling all those disappointments.
“Biggest change, I guess as a player, I've been more patient with myself because the journey of me being here right now wasn't really easy. It's been a hard year.”
