OKINAWA – Dwight Ramos didn’t just help his girlfriend Kim Kianna Dy find a new PVL team. He had a big role in convincing Dy which team she she should play for next.
The lovebirds were in Okinawa recently, Ramos to captain the Asian team in the B.League All-Star game, and Dy to cheer her beau while she contemplated her volleyball future following the disbandment of PVL team F2 logistics.
Dwight helped Dy decide
During the trip many offers poured in seeking the services of Dy, a reliable opposite hitter with her previous team. The choices presented her must have been a bit confusing. Fortunately, Ramos was around to help her weigh the pros and cons of the various offers.
The choice finally went to PLDT and Dy said the decision was made easier with Ramos giving her all sides of the matter.
Following the disbandment of F2 Logistics, Dy became available and was a much-sought after piece for the various teams looking for veteran poise and locker room leadership.
“He helped me weigh the pros and cons of every team that showed interest,” she said.
Why Dy chose PLDT
In the end, the decision came down to which team needed Dy more. “For me personally, I went to a team that felt needed my position and feel that I can fit in the best.” she said.
She also said that having a partner who is in the same environment where she plies her trade is a big plus, referring to Ramos who has also changed teams in the past.
“It’s actually easy to have a partner who’s also into sports so they understand yung struggles, pag bad game, mga ganoon. They also understand that we can’t be with each other like normal couples do,” she said.
“He understands, I understand. We’re on the same page.” /RSL
