CHOCO Mucho’s last pioneer Kat Tolentino has been troubled by an undisclosed auditory problem over the last year.
Not only did it hold her back from her usual extended minutes as one of the Flying Titans’ ace spikers but it has also affected her form and conditioning.
Tolentino revealed her struggles hearing properly in her left ear — one aggravated by loud crowds like the one she was welcomed with in Choco Mucho’s opening day loss to Petro Gazz.
On the bright side, however, she’s feeling much better than she’s been since the problem first surfaced.

“I'm deaf in my left ear so all the sounds are coming from my right side and it's pretty different. Just even as a person in the arena, it's different but it's not something that I can't deal with,” Tolentino said.
“I just have to adjust and understand that this is the condition I have so I have to get used to it. So far, it's been okay. It’s just really loud in my right side.”
Fingers crossed, as well, for Tolentino that it won’t be a permanent condition she’ll have to deal with.
“According to the ENT, it hasn't exactly come back and it's been almost around 9 months. Hopefully it's not permanent and it will come back. But right now, I just can't really hear so much in my left side.”
