THAI Kuttika Kaewpin was pleased to see her team-up with fellow Creamline import Laura Schaudt and local star Alyssa Valdez peaking at the right time ahead of the round-robin quarterfinals of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
The Cool Smashers snapped a two-game losing skid with the dangerous trio Kaewpin, Scahudt and Valdez leading the way in their 25-19, 25-20,23-25, 25-14 win over Perlas on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
While Valdez had 20 points, Kaewpin made 17 and Schaudt added 16 in a match that took an hour and 43 minutes to finish.
Although Creamline has yet to score back-to-back wins in the tournament, the hard-hitting Thai import sees a better Cool Smashers team in the quarterfinals with improved chemistry.
“Laura earlier helped Alyssa, Alyssa earlier helped me and I helped Laura earlier, we shared in offense (which is) ok so I like our teamwork,” said Kaewpin.
Kaewpin and Valdez are no strangers to each other as they teamed up in Thai club team 3BB Nakornnont in the Thai Super League, while Schaudt is in her second stint in the country after suiting up for Cignal in the Philippine Super Liga last year.
Creamline had seven service aces compared to four of Perlas. The Cool Smashers also had 50 digs, 20 coming from Kaewpin, against 30 of its opponent and 29 excellent receptions compared to 31 of the Spikers.
“If Creamline serve good, we win the game. But if we serve ugly, we lose the game so we should talk to each other all the time, we need to have teamwork,” she said.
