JUDITH Abil has always been known for her bubbly and quirky character since her UAAP days as the heart and soul of University of the East’s offense.
After getting a new lease on life as Cignal’s free-agent signing in July, Abil juggled the challenges of adapting not only with a new PVL team and new system but also with a new position as a libero.
"(Best moment ng career ko) ‘yung first conference ko sa Cignal then nag-podium kami,” Abil shared with SPIN.ph.
"First medal ko ‘yun sa PVL nu’ng nag-bronze kami. Sobrang happy lang talaga."

The 27-year-old ace fought through an erstwhile-stacked HD Spikers roster before being restored to her original wing spiker role, either as an open or opposite, in light of team captain Ces Molina’s shock exit in January.
She’s now found her groove as Cignal’s newest offensive weapon, with a game-high 13-piece to show against Capital1 to bolster her depleted squad’s bid in the seeding race ahead of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference qualifying round.
The secret behind her rejuvenated form? Sticking to her guns of playing each game unapologetically with hints of smiles and laughter on and off the court.
“Sa akin kasi, ‘yun ‘yung puhunan ko sa volleyball, ‘yung page-enjoy sa loob,” Abil said.
“Now na nandito na ko sa professional (league), mas may konting pagseseryoso, hindi katulad nu’ng sa UE na tawa lang nang tawa, nganga lang nang nganga.”
With a touch of jest in true Abil fashion, she described what fans should expect to see from her as an HD Spiker the rest of the way.
“Pa-demure, yes. Demure tayo ngayon!”
