PHILIPPINE Army clobbered new team Kia, 25-15, 25-18, 25-11, on Sunday in the V-League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Jovelyn Gonzaga and Nene Bautista combined for 22 points, while Aby Marano added six markers for Army.
“Medyo slow start nga kami eh dahil na rin siguro sa trabaho namin sa Army pero kundisyon naman ang players sila-sila kaya ipanalo ang laro,” said new Army coach Kungfu Reyes.
“Wala naman problema kasi ang leadership naman nila importante, ilabas ko man si Tina (Salak) andyan naman si Gonzaga, Marano at Bautista,” he added.
Reyes is pleased to see Marano provide an added boost of energy to the aging squad.
“’Yung swagger ni Aby sana masabayan namin,” said Reyes, who also has FEU star May Palma in the squad.
“Malaking tulong sa gitna lalo pa na aging na rin ang team namin hindi naman maitatago ‘yun pero at least ’yung experience ni (Mary Jean) Balse nadagdagan pa ng Marano at Palma.”
Alexa Micek scored 10 points, Mina Aganon had nine and Bang Pineda added eight for Kia.
Kia Forte gave away 30 points through errors, while the Lady Troopers only had 10 miscues.
