    FEU recovers from a set down to keep Arellano winless in PVL

    FAR Eastern University evened its record in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, bucking a sluggish start to beat Arellano University, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20, on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.

    Tamaraws continued to struggle after a three-set loss to NU Bulldogs, surrendering the first set to the winless Chiefs, before recovering to dominate the NCAA silver medalists.

    FEU coach Rey Diaz fielded all his spikers and all contributed at least a point, with liberos Vince Lorenzo and Jeremiah Barrica registering 24 excellent receptions and five digs, respectively.

    John Paul Bugaoan had 12 attacks and six kill blocks for 18 points, Mark Calado chipped in 13 points, while skipper Redijohn Paler and Peter Quiel added 11.

    FEU kept its semis bid on track at solo sixth place with an improved 3-3 win-loss record and will brace for another NCAA team, San Beda (2-3) on Saturdayat 11 a.m.

    Christian Dela Paz once again stood out among the Chiefs with 14 points including 10 digs.

    Jesrael Liberato delivered 13 markers, Demmy Lapuz scored 11 and skipper Christian Segovia added 10 points.

    Arellano still has yet to win in six games. The Chiefs will have a NCAA finals rematch with University of Perpetual Help (1-5) on Sunday at 9 a.m.
