FEAR DeBeer, still.

ZUS Coffee cracked the whip on Petro Gazz in straight sets, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20, in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.

The unbeaten league leader claimed the scalp of another champion team just five days removed from its four-set rout of reigning titleholder Creamline.

Now four games unscathed, the Thunderbelles earned just their second-ever win over the three-time PVL champions led by the conference’s leading scorer in 24-year-old American spiker Anna DeBeer. The first of which was in Game 1 of the best-of-three All-Filipino quarterfinals seven months ago that was also a shock sweep win.

This year's youngest and second-shortest reinforcement continued to impress for the Thunderbelles with a game-high 23 points.

AC Miner backstopped the blue-and-white's local core with 11 points built on eight attacks, two blocks and one ace.

Jovelyn Gonzaga's veteran presence also worked wonders both on offense and defense with nine points, nine digs and eight receptions.

"Grateful talaga ako sa commitment ng bawat isa [...] ‘Yung tiyaga, ‘yung patience, and ‘yung utak namin, ‘yung setter namin sa loob ng court and ‘yung diskarte ni coach talaga," said Gonzaga.

"‘Yung mga tanders [veterans] namin, hine-help nila ‘yung mga bagets sa’min na mas maging mature pa sa game. Also, thankful din naman kami kay Anna [DeBeer] kasi ang laki talaga ng impact ni Anna eh," added team captain Cloanne Mondoñedo who posted 23 excellent sets.

No gas left

Not even a mighty one-two punch in Brooke Van Sickle and DeBeer’s Major League Volleyball (MLV) finals tormentor Lindsey Vander Weide could keep Petro Gazz’ shaky start to the conference afloat.

BVS put up 12 points, eight digs and five receptions behind LVW's 17 markers and five receptions, too.

Myla Pablo still shone from the right wing as a newly-converted opposite to lead the locals with 10 points and five digs.
