DASMARIÑAS — ZUS Coffee head coach Jerry Yee refused to delve deeper on how he and the rest of the team were all taken aback by having their supposed five-set debut win over Akari discarded.
Five days to a hard-earned dub in their opener, the Thunderbelles played their second debut of sorts in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
The same winning outcome emerged and even took ZUS Coffee one less set to put Chery Tiggo EV away, 25-15, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23.
And while their tough five-setter against the Chargers won't be recorded, Yee believes it still helped them in a way.

“Du’n na lang tayo sa positives nakatingin,” the ZUS Coffee head coach said.
“Ngayon, probably nakatulong sa amin dahil ‘di na kami first game talaga at nakalaro na sa Montalban," he added.
“Nakatulong din’ yung ganun para rito sa game na ‘to.”
'One win is wala naman'
Yee’s nonchalance was typified when asked about American import Anna DeBeer’s breakout 37-point debut.
“We saw this in practice so ‘di naman masyadong surprise sa amin na ganyan ‘yung performance niya,” said Yee,
“Talagang power. Malakas din si Anna.”
The dark spot embedded in a bright Thunderbelles debut was how they nearly blew a 10-point lead in the fourth set as a 17-7 lead turned into a slim 22-21 edge.
DeBeer scored the last two points in succession but knows there’s more to give for ZUS Coffee even after ‘two debut wins.’
“Sila na 'yun, they stayed composed, all of them. ‘Di naman kailangan i-rally o ano, na kakausapin mo pa’t bibigyan mo ng pointers, pero sila na ‘yun lahat.
“Lahat, mas paghahandaan na natin. Nag-iiscout pa rin tayo, nagdi-discuss about the other teams at, of course, magpe-prepare tayo.
“’Di naman pupwedeng mag-relax na dahil one win is wala naman.”
