THAILAND's EST Cola did not make it to the PVL Invitational finals by accident.

The Thai club arrived in the Philippines armed with a roster stacked with players who have been part of one of Asia's most respected national team programs, and it has leaned heavily on that experience throughout a campaign that has taken it all the way to the championship round.

But among those familiar names, one particularly stands out.

For Filipino volleyball fans who have kept tabs on the international game, 20-year-old opposite hitter Papatchaya Phontham is hardly an unfamiliar face.

Touted as one of the future stars of Thai volleyball, Phontham has already built an extensive resumé at a young age, progressing through Thailand's youth ranks before earning experience with the senior squad on some of the sport's biggest stages.

She has represented Thailand from the FIVB Girls' U19 World Championship and Asian U20 Championship to the FIVB Women's U21 World Championship, before eventually making her way to the senior team setup, including at the Volleyball Nations League.

Her club experience has been just as extensive.

Phontham has competed in major regional tournaments, including the AVC Women's Champions League and international competitions in Vietnam, while also making previous trips to the Philippines with EST Cola.

She was also recognized as the Best Opposite Spiker in the 2026 Thailand Volleyball League, further cementing her status as one of the country's most promising young attackers.

That pedigree has shone through in the PVL, with Phontham emerging as one of EST Cola's primary offensive weapons throughout the Invitational, repeatedly taking on the scoring load as the Thai side navigated a difficult field on its way to the finals.

But for the young opposite hitter, EST Cola's journey has never been about one player, no matter how much experience she brings to the court.

Speaking in Thai, Phontham said she intends to tap into everything she has learned from playing with Thailand at the highest level as EST Cola prepares to chase the PVL crown against either Creamline or Nxled.

"I will use my experience from the senior national team to help us. Whether it helps a lot or a little, I will try my best," Phontham said.

"But no matter what, a team is a team. I can't just play alone; we have to play together. Yes, even if my contribution is big or small, if it's just me out there, it isn't a team."

That team-first philosophy has, in many ways, been EST Cola's running narrative since the moment it opened its Invitational campaign.

While Phontham has often been the headline act in the scoring department, EST Cola's success has been built around contributions from across the floor, with its Thai national team mainstays and younger standouts combining to give the club a balanced attack capable of matching some of the PVL's biggest names.

And now, the young Thai star who has already experienced the pressure of representing her country on the international stage gets another opportunity to put those lessons to use with the crown on the line.
