MONTALBAN — Jerry Yee was a notable absence on the sidelines as ZUS Coffee absorbed a five-set defeat to Galeries Tower for its second loss of the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
At the same time, Yee was also not present during College of St. Benilde’s four-set win over Arellano, which was being played simultaneously at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

Former head coach Onyok Getigan took over bench duties for the Thunderbelles, while Mark Santos stepped in for the Lady Blazers.
So where was Yee?
Shortly after ZUS Coffee’s loss in Montalban, a team source who requested anonymity shed light on the champion coach’s situation.
According to the source, the 51-year-old tactician experienced a sudden spike in blood pressure following the Thunderbelles’ conference-opening loss to Capital1 last Tuesday.

He was given immediate medical care and was advised to take time off.
“In-advise siyang magpahinga muna pero okay naman siya. Nu’ng last two days, wala rin siya sa training for his rest muna,” the source told SPIN.ph.
Yee is expected to return to the sidelines once cleared, but remains on an indefinite break until he receives the green light from doctors.
The source even joked that the recent setback in Montalban might have added to the stress.
For now, however, Yee remains focused on recovery before resuming his dual coaching responsibilities.
