FAR Eastern University hardly had to break sweat in defeating La Salle-Dasmarinas, 25-7, 25-11, 25-15, on Sunday in the round robin quarterfinals of the V-League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
It only took 59 minutes for FEU to dispose of the Lady Patriots and force a three-way tie for second with University of Sto. Tomas and National University at 4-1.
Mainstays Heather Guino-o and Toni Rose Basas each had 10 points, while guest player Jovelyn Gonzaga added eight for the Lady Tamaraws, who next face Ateneo then UST.
“Happy kasi maganda ang performance ng mga bata and preparation na rin sa aming next games,” said FEU coach Shaq de los Santos.
The Lady Tamaraws had 38 attacks against 16 by the Lady Patriots. FEU also hit 13 service aces, while the Lady Patriots were zero from the service line.
FEU also minimized its errors to 14 compared to 26 miscues from its previous match against College of St. Benilde.
But De los Santos downplayed his team’s achievement.
“Baka ‘yung Dasma lang ang medyo hindi maganda ang laro kaya dun kami nakalayo,” he said.
Maribeth Lara had six points for La Salle-Dasmarinas, which dropped to 1-4, while Lady Patriots’ guest player Desiree Dadang went scoreless.
