Savi Davison had the game of her life with 34 big points to end Creamline’s 19-game unbeaten run, 30-28, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 16-14, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center.
Just like last year, the Cool Smashers had a record win streak snapped in an out-of-town match after ending their prior 19-game unbeaten run in Laguna and their league-best 25-game run in Ilocos Norte four years ago.
PLDT went on to extend the league's only active win streak against Creamline to three, dating back to the 2024 All-Filipino Conference preliminaries last April.
Davison proved to be Creamline’s kryptonite yet again with not only the game-winning block but also produced another double-double nearly one year later with 17 receptions.
Fiola Ceballos dealt the dagger on both ends for the High Speed Hitters with a triple-double of 14 points, 16 digs and 11 receptions.
Also helping PLDT’s cause was the La Salle connection that emerged in the home stretch as Kianna Dy’s clutch fifth-set block and Kim Fajardo’s late cameo worked wonders for the now-third seeds at 7-3.
Reigning Invitational Conference MVP Bernadeth Pons was one dig shy of a triple-double of her own with 23 points, 12 receptions and nine digs.
Extra special win
While Davison is no stranger to beating Creamline, this win in particular has a much sweeter taste than the last time.
Sure, she did the heavy-lifting on offense with a record scoring output that speaks for itself, but nothing meant more for the Fil-Canadian star than to see all of the High Speed Hitters — from starters to the bench — go above and beyond for their biggest win yet.
“I think one was extra special because it took every single one of us—from the bench to the people on the court,” Davison said.
“It’s a team effort regardless of what I do, everyone showed up today. It was represented thoroughly throughout this game.
“Like I said, we work hard in practice by ourselves like nobody really knows so I’m glad that it was represented with this game today.”
