GREEK sensation Eva Chantava will be Cignal’s import for the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
Chantava, 34, is one of Greece’s finest products in the world volleyball stage having played in 11 countries in her 20-year career.
But before her upcoming foray in the PVL, the 6-foot-2 winger played for Nepal’s Karnali Yashvis in the Everest Women’s Volleyball League, which was abruptly halted due to the ongoing political unrest in the country.
She even shared on her personal Facebook page that she was ‘not safe’ and had to ‘hide in the forest [while] waiting for the army.’
Chantava has since evacuated to Dubai and is safe and ready to go to the Philippines for her PVL debut.
It will be a familiar sight for Chantava when she returns to Manila in the coming weeks.
Back in April, she was part of Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima sidei that won bronze in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League at the PVL’s regular venue, the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Having been steered by Venezuelan ace MJ Perez to bronze in last year’s import-laden play, the HD Spikers will be backed by another perennial winner looking to strike the franchise’s first PVL gold.
"Chantava is a decorated spiker, boasting multiple Most Valuable Player awards and an impressive collection of titles and medals throughout her career," Cignal wrote on Tuesday.
As her bemedalled credentials would show, Chantava is a two-time Greek Cup champion with two different clubs and has also won the Greek League and Romanian Cup, cementing her winning reputation in some of Europe’s grandest stages.
Cignal's redemption bid after a tough preseason and Invitational stretch begins in October when the Reinforced Conference begins after the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.
