UP coach Godfrey Okumu said the crowd gave the Lady Maroons a big lift against Far Eastern University in the opener of the best-of-three finals series of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Sunday.
The Lady Maroons fought back from two sets down to close in on their first title in the league.
“I would like to thank the UP fans, you saw them out there. I think we came out strongly after two sets, (but) basically this was also part of the fans,” said Okumu.
“The fans never gave up on us, they kept on pushing, they kept on saying ‘Come on! Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!’ and we went back,” he added.
UP tries to wrap up the series on Wednesday and is hoping the Lady Maroons supporters will again be there in full force.
“I was surprised when they cheered and I was like, wow! Everywhere I Iooked around there was UP crowd,” he said admiring the team’s fans.
“But it’s great I really admire the fans and it gives me the drive and it gives me the purpose to serve a community and the people who love the game of volleyball,” he added.
