THREE-time Premier Volleyball League (PVL) best setter Gel Cayuna will stay with the Cignal HD Spikers for the 2024 season despite receiving multiple offers.
Cayuna, through her talent agency VP Global Management, confirmed her decision to stay and boost Cignal's bid to finally capture an elusive league title after five podium finishes in seven PVL conferences.

“Siguro okay na yung nag-popodium kami, established na siguro kami du'n since naka-ilan na rin. Next mission is to really get into the finals kung papalarin ulit lalo na't mas competitive na ang mga darating pang season," Cayuna said.
"Pero all in all, gusto ko talaga ipagpatuloy yung nasimulan namin as a team kasi kinakapos kami noon, siguro more pa talaga and hopefully moving forward, mag-work na," she added.
After her previous contract expired last December, Cayuna ultimately opted to turn down offers from several PVL teams as her decision to stay came down to Cignal's "coaching, system, team composition, and culture."
And in terms of leading her squad, the prized playmaker is keen on playing alongside former F2 Logistics libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig and Cayuna's fellow FEU Lady Tamaraw Jov Fernandez.
“Super excited ako to play with Dawn (Macandili-Catindig). I mean ever since, blessed naman kami ng mahuhusay na libero with Ate Jheck (Dionela) pero siyempre, mas advantage yung may Macandili pa.
"Isa pa si Jov Fernandez. Siyempre hindi man kami nag-abot sa FEU, pero meron pa rin 'yang FEU connection dahil siguro ganu'n naman kalalim ang culture ng volleyball sa FEU so excited ako na makasama siya”.
In the recently concluded All-Filipino Conference, Cayuna's 182 excellent sets (4.44 per set) bested the field on top of 52 total points on 26 attacks, 15 aces, 11 blocks, and 43 excellent digs.
