ARA Galang braved through recurring injuries and a career-shifting team disbandment to get to her first PVL Finals appearance in four years.
Even as one of the sport’s household names from her glory days with La Salle, the 30-year-old winger knows there’s still more she can give to the game that continues to embrace her after all these years.

“Ang saya, yun lang talaga. Mas nakakagana lalo kahit papano at proud din ako sa sarili ko dahil sa lahat ng mga pinagtrabuhan ko,” Galang told SPIN.ph after her 15-piece to steer Chery Tiggo past Cignal in the 2025 PVL on Tour semifinals.
But this time, it isn’t just about herself anymore.
Moments after her latest career breakthrough, Galang took time in the post-game press conference to reflect on her renewed purpose.
Leading Chery Tiggo’s return trip to the PVL Finals is yet another badge of honor to her long list of accolades, but the reward for Galang this time is the longevity that has allowed her to still perform at the highest level and inspire those who look up to her.
“Passion ko yung volleyball eh. Nag-eenjoy pa rin akong maglaro. May opportunity pa ako so ayaw kong sayangin kasi hindi naman hangga’t hanggang na kaya ko pa maglaro eh,” she said.
“Hangga’t kaya ko, gagawin ko yung best ko, gagawin ko yung makakaya ko para matulungan yung team ko ngayon. Chery ako, so mag-give back ako sa tiwala na binigay nila sa’kin.
“Naglalaro rin ako dahil din sa pamilya ko and sa mga nagtitiwala sa’kin. Kung may mga na-iinspire pa akong mga bata, matanda, naglalaro rin ako para du’n, para sa kanila.”
Winning won’t ever be an instant guarantee in any case for a humble figure like Galang.
Instead, her only promise is to show everyone that has always believed in her who Ara Galang is, always has been and can still be in pursuit of championship glory.
“All-out na ‘to. All-out. Lahat-lahat na,” Galang said with conviction.
“Ibibigay ko lang yung best ko. Ibibigay ko yung makakaya ko para maka-contribute na manalo at makuha yung first championship ko at second ng Chery [Tiggo] sa PVL.”
