BEST of friends off the court, Chery Tiggo aces Mylene Paat and Aby Maraño are relishing their first-ever pro league partnership — one that has been off to a hot start.
Following the Crossovers’ second sweep in as many games over Strong Group, Paat reflected on her second PVL outing alongside her ‘soul sister.’
“Playing with my best friend (Aby Maraño, ang gaan lang talaga [kasi ‘yung] mentality ko, mismong katawan ko, nabo-boost eh.
“Sa flow naman ng nilalaro namin, I hope na magtuloy tuloy pa rin yung communication namin, ‘yung magandang samahan namin sa loob ng court, and of course kahit naman sa labas,” said Paat.
#PaaTyang reunion ‘feels surreal’
Maraño, the Crossovers’ newly-designated captain, flexed the innate firepower of their teamup through years past in their national team stints which they’ll look to rekindle in Chery Tiggo’s bid for a second PVL crown.
“Feels surreal kasi before ako nag-Chery, we were thinking about it already na what if magkasama tayo sa isang team. Kasi sa national team, grabe ‘yung fire namin when we play together lalo na kapag pitpitan tapos crucial, tapos kaming dalawa yung mainit at bumo-bomba sa loob.”
Maraño added: “So in-imagine namin ‘yun together without us knowing na mag-dilang anghel kami. But ito na nga, ang tadhana ang gumuguhit kung saan kami papunta and tuloy-tuloy na ‘to. Kaya every day, isa pa rin sa reason na na-eexcite ako is because I’m playing with my bestfriend.”
