IT’S not always the players’ on-court faceoff that’s going to be exciting in the best-of-three semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.
The matchup on the sidelines between coaches Air Padda of Adamson University and Godfrey Okumu of University of the Philippines is also a must-watch as both are excited to ‘kick each others' butt’ when they meet on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Game time is at 2:00 p.m.
“Me and coach Godfrey, we had this friendly competitive banter but I know he wants to kick my ass and I wanna kick his ass too so I think going into the semis I’m exited,” shared Padda.
At the end of the elimination round, the Lady Falcons remained unscathed but the outspoken coach has always been vocal that’s she’s not yet satisfied.
Padda also added that their toughest opponent was the Lady Maroons and she doesn’t want to make the same mistakes they did during their first meeting.
“I wanna play him again because I don’t want people talking about ow we barely won. If I beat you twice there’s nothing really to talk about,” she added.
Okumu, for his part, refused to back down from the word war.
Prior to their semifinals series, the Kenyan mentor wanted to play a little psy war on Padda and not disclosing if he will field his injured player Nicole Magsarile.
“She’s a really good coach, she’s a very good person and we usually talk because being foreigners in a country and for the love of the game so we talk,” he said.
“But I can’t tell you if Nicky can come back or not because if I tell you, you will write. So I’ll just keep it, that’s the trick and my coaches also helped me which way to go,” he added.
