CHERY Tiggo played it cool, calm and collected in the 2025 PVL on Tour with a ‘lowkey’ approach to the month-long tournament.
Playing with subtlety and diminished pressure worked wonders for the ‘star-less’ Crossovers, now that they’re moving on to the semifinal round for the fourth time in franchise history.
“Yun yung as much as I want to na maging character nila na magpeprepare kami, pupunta kami sa games, gusto ko na lowkey lang na simpleng team pero maglalaro diyan, focus, intense, na ibibigay yung best nila,” said Crossovers head coach Norman Miguel.

“Mas mabuting lowkey din tayo darating diyan na naka-focus tayo para yung pressure na pwedeng pumasok, ma-block kaagad yun kasi coming to the semifinals, mas mataas na yan, mas dapat ma-handle namin.”
Even before the preseason tournament, Chery Tiggo has always been tagged as a team that doesn’t boast sheer star power or play with fireworks like their rivals do.
Sure, they have the luxury of proven aces like Ara Galang, Cess Robles or Aby Marano on hand but the Crossovers haven’t had multiple go-to guys that can rack up points at an instant.
If there’s any big name that has stood out in recent history, it’s now-estranged Eya Laure.
But Miguel isn’t getting too caught up on that notion and has instead lauded the Crossovers’ commitment to making the most of who they have than to lament on what they don’t have.
“Ito lang yung bagay na meron kami. Ito lang yung bagay na kontrolado namin. Wala kaming ilang spikers na nasa Alas, na naglalaro sa kabila. Ito na kami eh. Kung meron man, si Jen Nierva,” the Chery Tiggo coach explained.
“Bakit ko naman papasakitin yung ulo ko na mag-aspire na meron kaming ganun kung wala naman? Kung ano lang yung meron kami, kung ito lang yung resources namin, ito yung pagtatrabahuan namin.
“That’s why gusto ko silang maging lowkey lang. Yun yung principle ko behind that.”
