CAGAYAN Valley made quick work of Philippine Air Force, 27-25, 25-19, 25-15, to sweep its way to the finals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 Open Conference on a stormy Friday night at The Arena in San Juan.
The straight-set win stretched the Lady Rising Suns’ unbeaten streak to 14 to earn a crack at the championship. They now await for their finals opponent between the winner of the Philippine Army-Smart sudden-death duel on Sunday.
Kannika Thipachot finished with 18 points, while skipper Angge Tabaquero contributed 14 for Cagayan Valley.
“Mag tuluy-tuloy sana ang magandang nilalaro nila, sana 'wag sila magsawa (maglaro)," said Cagayan coach Nes Pamilar, who reminded the Lady Rising Suns that everything will be back to square one for the team come the championship series.
"Inalis ko na sa kanila ang mga panalo. Back to zero na kami sa Finals," he added.
Although the Lady Rising Suns gave away 23 points off their errors, they had more blocks (6-4) and registered more service aces (8-5).
Judy Ann Caballejo finished with 10 points for Air Force, which bowed out of the tournament with an even 7-7 record.
