FAR Eastern University overcame a poor start to beat Adamson University, 20-25, 23-25, 29-27, 25-16, 15-10, and move closer to the bronze in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Coming off a straight-set defeat to National University in their semifinal decider, the Tamaraws continued to play lethargic before finding their form to escape a tight third set win.
The Tamaraws dispatched the Falcons in one hour and 42 minutes.
Rookie Mark Calado led the Tamaraws with 16 points on 13 kills and three blocks. Peter Quiel chipped in 14 hits, while Raymond Bautista and John Paul Bugaoan added 12 markers apiece.
Bautista also had 26 excellent receptions and seven digs to help libero Vince Lorenzo, who had 32 receptions and 14 digs.
The Tamaraws try to finish off the Falcons on Wednesday.
It was the third straight loss for the Falcons, who were swept by University of Sto. Tomas in the semifinals.
Skipper Paolo Pablico had 27 points for the Falcons, while Leo Miranda unloaded 20 hits. George Labang scored 14 and Mark Alvarez added 10.
