F2 Logistics battled back from a set down to beat Vietnamese guest team Kinh Bac Bac Ninh, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20, on Friday and booked a seat in the PVL Invitational Conference bronze-medal match at the PhilSports Arena.
Majoy Baron led the way with 20 points on 15 attacks, 4 blocks and an ace for the Cargo Movers, who stepped on the gas after losing a close first set to get a shot at a podium finish in the conference.
Three-way tie
With the four-set win, F2 forced a three-way tie with Cignal and PLDT at 2-3 (win-loss).
But by virtue of match points (three points for a sweep, two for a three/four set win, one for a five set win), Cignal (7 points) and F2 (7 points) advanced to the knockout battle for third over PLDT (6 points).
“Very happy kasi ito na ‘yung ticket namin sa battle for bronze. Binigay ko lang ‘yung kaya kong ibigay and kailangan mag-step up kasi may mga kulang kaming tao pero hindi ‘yun rason para hindi lumaban,” Baron said.
Myla Pablo matched Baron's 20-point output. The two received vital scoring assists from Aby Maraño (18 points) and Ivy Lacsina (15 points).
Battle for bronze
F2 Logistics will vie for its second successive PVL bronze medal against Cignal on Sunday, 4 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese side ended its guest stint with five losses in as many games, winning only two sets.
