UST rookie sensation Eya Laure felt regretful not seeing her idol Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who watched their Game Two battle with FEU last Saturday at the Arena in San Juan City.

Although they lost to FEU in Game Three, 25-19, 18-25, 22-25, 18-25, in their do-or-die Sunday match, Laure quote tweeted a picture in Game Two of her idol, Pontillas, watching together with her sister, EJ Laure, Mela Tunay, Pam Lastimosa, Chloe Cortez and current player Dimdim Pacres.

Laure and the Tigresses failed to complete a sweep in Game Two before they got knocked out in the rubber match. Laure said that if she saw her idol last Saturday it could have inspired her.

Sayang! Hindi ko siya nakita na nandoon siya,’” said Laure, who struggled in Game 2 only finishing with six points.

Laure, who is wearing the no. 8 jersey because of her childhood hero Pontillas, shared that the UST legend even sent her a video greeting motivating her before their best-of-three semis started with FEU.

And when her idol will watch her again, she vows to do everything.

“Pag nanonood talaga siya, talaga naman, lahat na siguro gagawin ko,” she added sharing laughter with reporters.

But on a serious note, Laure, who had 15 points and as many as digs in their Game THree loss, is bringing a huge lesson from their foiled stint.

Laure added that their precious stint is a testament that the Tigresses’ future is bright, reaching the semifinals even most of them are rookies even without their seniors like her elder sister EJ and Sisi Rondina.

“Siyempre as a rookie din kasi parang ang sarap sa feeling na angdami naming rookies pero kahit papaano natulungan namin ‘yung seniors namin na mapunta sa ganitong posisyon and isa na din siyang blessing and parang nagiging positive thinkers nga kami lahat, kahit sila coach,” she said.

But for the prized rookie, her biggest lesson this conference is everything comes with confidence.

“As a rookie, siguro magtiwala ka sa sarili mo, ‘yung isa naming coach, Mark Alfafara, sabi niya samin ‘Confidence lang talaga sa paglalaro kailangan di mawala,’” she concluded on her convincing stint.

But it’s not over for the rookie and the Tigresses as they fight for bronze against Adamson Lady Falcons in a best-of-three series starting on Sunday next week.
