UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas rookie Eya Laure impressed her coach after she played through a shoulder injury in their match against College of St. Benilde in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Just like the league that pushed through despite a red warning issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the UST star freshman insisted to still see action and managed to score 11 points in their 26-24, 29-27, 25-17 win over CSB.

“Fighter ‘yung bata eh,” said UST assistant coach Ian Fernandez.

Still Fernandez was wary and only gave Laure limited minutes in the third set.

“Kaya nitong third set nakita ko naman na medyo commanding naman ‘yung lead namin and then medyo control naman namin ‘yung game, kaya pinahinga ko na rin,” he said.

Laure sustained the first injury during a therapy session and the second was during a weights training.

She was already nursing a shoulder injury during their match against University of the Philippines a week ago.

But Laure assured that there is nothing to worry about.
