FROM being two of the fiercest on-court rivals in the now-defunct Philippine Superliga (PSL), Khat Bell and Ara Galang now find themsleves in the same boat in the Premier Volleyball League starring for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Bell starred for the Petron Blaze Spikers squad which beat Galang's F2 Logistics in the 2018 and 2019 PSL Grand Prix. The two squads competed the PSL title seven times, including five straight from 2017 to 2018.
But as is the case with any rivals-turned-teammates story, the Crossovers’ newest attacking duo couldn’t be more pleased with their blossoming partnership two games into the new conference
Bell gave Galang her flowers for her admirable work ethic and growth as a spiker after being dealt multiple injury battles through years and seasons past.
This couldn't be more evident as she starred in Chery Tiggo's straight-sets rout of Nxled on Saturday.
“It’s definitely less stressful having her (Ara Galang) on my team. I watched her the last two seasons that I’ve been here. She’s absolutely amazing,” Bell said.
“I admire her work ethic as well, and just seeing her grow her game as an attacker from the opposite has been great. She’s attacking a lot higher and a lot more than the last few years, and the strength is insane.
“I can tell she’s been in the gym working hard and I’m just so glad to have her as a teammate and not as an opponent anymore.”
The feeling is mutual according to Galang.
On the receiving end of Bell's powerful attacks during her time with the Cargo Movers, Galang couldn't be more relieved that she wouldn't have to worry about it this time.
“Sobrang amazing siyang kalaban at syempre, ngayon, na kakampi pa, mas okay. Super happy na syempre, kasama ko na siya ngayon sa court na nagtutulungan kami ngayon."
