FROM Morayta to the pros, Creamline’s Bernadeth Pons, Kyle Negrito and Kyla Atienza have come a long way.
A total of four Far Eastern University standouts are in the current Cool Smashers roster including veteran spiker Rose Vargas.
But it was the aforementioned trio that already had championship experience after leading FEU to a runner-up finish in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball finals six years ago.
Upon joining Creamline’s dynastic run for over the last half-decade, Negrito and Pons beamed with pride on how far they and the rest of the FEU aces have grown in the pro ranks.
“Nakaka-proud lang din kasi ‘yung mga pinagdaanan namin nung college, ang saya kasi nagagamit namin ngayon lahat ng natutunan namin, lahat ng mga challenges noon,” said Negrito.
“Masaya akong kasama ko ulit si Pons sa loob ng court kasi magkasama kaming nagagawa ulit namin ‘yung mga dapat naming gawin.”
Pons added: “Sobrang saya na nakikita ko lahat ng teammates ko before sa FEU na nag-eexcel sa PVL. Nakakatuwa din na halos lahat sobrang laki ng inimprove and sobrang proud ako sa bawat isa sa’min.”
“Hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy.”
Morayta’s pride, now Creamline’s crown jewels
Victories and championships aside, playing for the PVL’s winningest team has been the thrill of a lifetime for Negrito and Pons.
And with a Grand Slam and their 10th title now within reach, Morayta’s aces are ready to take their trail of history to the next level with Creamline in the Invitational Conference finals.
“Sobrang proud din ako sa team kasi walang excuses. Nag-peperform talaga at binibigay lahat. ‘Yung mental toughness talaga nandyan and sobrang gaan lang talaga ng bawat member ng team na nandiyan lagi na naka-support sayo,” said Pons.
Negrito added: “I’m really, really super proud of my team na kita niyo naman, talagang lumalaban talaga kami.
“Sobrang proud ako at sobrang love na love ko talaga sila.”
