RHEA Dimaculangan-Villarete’s surprise stint with Creamline won’t just last until the end of the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League.

The 34-year-old veteran playmaker signed a contract with the Cool Smashers that will run until the end of the year, which means she'll get to suit up for Creamline in the Reinforced and Invitational conferences.

“So far po, 'yung [contract’ ko is siguro hanggang matapos AVC then until December siguro, Creamline pa rin,” Dimaculangan told reporters in a chance interview.

The former PLDT setter bared that she has been with the 10-time PVL champions for about three weeks now.

Once the opportunity came knocking even amid her sabbatical, Dimaculangan wasted no time in seizing a rare opportunity to play for the most successful club team in all of Philippine volleyball.

“Last time, sabi ko sa interview na 'pag may dumating na opportunity, iga-grab ko lang siya nang iga-grab,” she said.

“Nagkataon siguro na dumating siya, triny ko lang din, and ‘yun nga, si coach Sherwin (Meneses) 'yung nag-contact sa 'kin nung time na ‘yun through sa brother ko.”

The moment ‘D-Mac’ first hit a volleyball again in Creamline training, the feeling of post-training pain was one she badly missed.

“Nung nag-training ako, parang na-miss ng katawan ko 'yung sakit ng katawan. Tapos 'yung feeling na may mga teammates ka ulit, na palagi na nilo-look forward ko na makasama kahit gaano kahirap 'yung training, so parang nakaka-excite, nakaka-excite na makabalik,” Dimaculangan said.

Now reunited with her former champion Petron teammates Bernadeth Pons and Denden Lazaro-Revilla, along with ex-University of Santo Tomas High School star Alyssa Valdez, D-Mac is all about reliving their glory days — but this time, in pink, in the international stage and as a mentor to two-time PVL best setter Kyle Negrito.

“Kailangan mo i-accept at kailangan mo i-embrace talaaga, kahit gaano kahirap, nandyan na 'yan e. Kailangan mo lang talaga daanan kung ano 'yung mga kailangan mong gawin, kailangan mong adjustments, opportunity pa rin 'yan para may matutunan pa rin ako,” the newest Creamline setter said.

“Very excited and very happy ako na nagkaroon ulit ako ng opportunity na makasama nga sila, and 'yung feeling na champion kami nung magkakasama, parang siguro ngayon, makakasama siguro ulit ako and hopefully, makuha ulit 'yung goal na 'yun.”
