UNIVERSITY of the Philippines kept alive its semifinal chances in the V-League Open, while eliminating UAAP rival National University, 25-22, 25-27, 25-13, 25-22, on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Diana Carlos scored 22 points with 14 attacks and 18 digs as the Lady Maroons evened their win-loss record to 3-3 for a tie with the Laoag.
The Lady Bulldogs ended their stint with a 3-4 record.
UP and Laoag face off Monday on the last eliminations playdate, with the winner joining Pocari Sweat (5-0), Bali Pure (5-1) and Air Force (5-1) in the semifinals.
“Kapit lang ng kapit, laro lang ng laro, hanga’t may chance sige lang ng sige .Swerte siguro na nakalusot kami,” said UP coach Jerry Yee.
“I don’t know if it’s us or baka kulang lang din sila, could be bago lang setter nila, hindi pa ayos yung rotation, same as us pero lamang lang kaunti yung tao natin,” Yee added.
UAAP Rookie of the Year Isa Molde scored 16 points, while skipper Kathy Bersola and Justine Dorog added 14 markers each.
Jaja Santiago finished with 19 points while Fil-Japanese Risa Sato and Jorelle Singh chipped in12 apiece.
