THE Davao Lady Agilas seek a follow-up to their debut victory, while Perpetual Help tries to finally make it to the win column when the two teams clash on Tuesday in the V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
While the Lady Agilas pulled off a huge win right on their first match, the reigning NCAA champion Lady Altas have yet to score a victory in three tries.
The 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22 victory over Far Eastern University earned the Lady Eagles a place in the middle of the Group B behind National University (4-0) and University of Santo Tomas (2-1).
FEU is running fourth with a 2-3 win-loss record, while Perpetual Help is at the bottom and need to sweep its last two games to keep its flickering quarterfinal hopes alive.
Davao is expected to lean again on May Sheila Agton, who led the Lady Agilas with 15 points, and Venus Flores, who scored 14.
The Davao side started its campaign only on Sunday, the first of five consecutive playdates in its packed schedule, and fatigue could be a major factor in its campaign.
But the Lady Agilas started strong and a win in the 2 p.m. match on Tuesday will move them closer to a quarterfinal berth. The top four in the six-team group advance to the next round.
“’Yun ang goal namin, ang makapasok sa next round,” said Shane Alagao, whose squad is composed of standouts from Ateneo de Davao, Jose Maria College, San Pedro College, University of Mindanao and Holy Cross.
Meanwhile, St. Benilde shoots for the last quarterfinal berth in Group A as it collides with winless St. Louis University in the 4 p.m. match.
The Lady Blazers hope to check their two-game skid with a victory over the Lady Navigators on a team built around Therese Veronas, Jeanette Panaga and Maureen Loren.
