RACHEL Daquis waited 551 days before returning to the PVL taraflex and making her debut with the Farm Fresh Foxies.

It was a journey back to volleyball she took with two of the most important people in her career — a veteran pair she won titles and went through all the highs and lows with in real-life best friend Jovelyn Gonzaga and longtime teammate Jheck Dionela.
The other half of Philippine volleyball’s ever-lethal ‘GonzaQuis’ duo couldn’t hide her excitement to see ‘Buday’ play the game she’s always loved once more.
In fact, Gonzaga took time to watch Daquis’ PVL comeback after leading her ZUS Coffee side to victory just a few hours prior on Thursday.
“Kanina, paggising ko, sobrang excited ako na makita na siya sa court. Sinabihan ko siya kanina na careful lang siya kasi alam ko rin kung paano siya maglaro,” Gonzaga shared with SPIN.ph.
“Kakabalik niya lang after a year, almost a year and a half, so kailangan, pacing muna siya.”
Birds of a feather, RAD and Jheck together
From their Cignal days in both the PVL and defunct Philippine Superliga to a new chapter together in Farm Fresh, Daquis and Dionela have always shared the same side of the court.
To have a leader and a friend on her side has meant everything for Dionela, as they get to start fresh together - as Foxies this time.
“Si ate Rachel, isa ‘yan sa mga tumatayong leader sa amin, so malaking impact ‘yun sa team. Masaya ako kasi unti-unti nang nakakabalik si ate Chel,” Dionela said.
“Alam niyo naman kung ano ‘yung naging journey niya. Hopefully, mas makabalik pa siya kasi unti-unti pa lang eh, ang tagal niyang nawala. Bini-build niya pa ‘yung confidence niya at saka pacing pa siya eh.”
