BUREAU of Customs lived to fight for a another day after it beat Bali Pure, 25-19, 15-25, 25-20, 25-17, in Game Two of their Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference semifinal series at the PhilSports Arena on Monday.
Alyssa Valdez scored 27 points behind her emphatic kills while Thai import Kanjana Kuthaisong added 19 markers as the Transformers evened the best-of-three series at 1-1, forcing a sudden-death match on Wednesday.
Winner of the do-or-die match will face Pocari Sweat in a best-of-three finals starting on Saturday.
“Nag-respond ang mga players sa napag-usapan namin, maganda ang nilaro nila,” said BoC coach Sherwin Meneses, who revealed that he needed to make adjustments on the position of Kuthaisong to unclog the blockers at the net.
“’Yung position lang naman ang naging adjustment doon kasi nga ‘yung kay Kuthaisong naging opposite siya (from outside hitter), kasi pwesto lang naman nila ang nakaka-deliver sila ng maganda,” he added.’
Rose Marie Vargas, who was limited to just four points in Customs' Game One defeat, had an impressive game embellished seven markers, 13 digs and 13 excellent receptions in a match that took an hour and 43 minutes to finish.
Kate Morrell finished with 19 points for Bali Pure, while Dzi Gervacio added 16.
