LA Salle dealt National University its first loss in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, 27-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-17, on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Green Spikers played pretty solid, while the Bulldogs were sloppy, committing 33 errors even as Bryan Bagunas scored 30.
Skipper Cris Dumago starred for La Salle, scoring 17 points off 15 spikes on a 60 percent success rate and also had a great defensive effort with 20 excellent receptions and four digs.
Geraint Bacon scattered 13 attacks and a pair of aces for 15 points as La Salle scored its second straight win after beating San Beda.
John David Inocentes added 11 points, while Wayne Marco had with 32 excellent sets on top of five points for the Red Spikers, who started the tournament with four straight losses.
La Salle eyes its third win in a row as it battles College of St. Benilde (3-2) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Bagunas also had 15 excellent receptions and three digs, while Madz Gampong scored 10 for NU.
The Bulldogs dropped to the No. 2 spot at 5-1 and will try to bounce back against third-running Adamson University (4-2) on Saturday at 9 a.m.
