CREAMLINE defeated Air Force, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 25-12, to to earn a share of the lead with Pocari Sweat in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Alyssa Valdez dropped 23 points built on 20 attacks, and 14 digs to lead the Cool Smashers, who shrugged off a third-set loss with a strong 9-1 start to the fourth on the way to their third consecutive win.
Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro said the team is trying to win as many games as it could before Valdez departs for Japan for a training trip with the Philippine team.
“We really have to collect as many wins as we can because we know that Alyssa will be serving the country,” said Almandro.
Valdez will miss the team's last three games in the elimination round against Power Smashers, University of the Philippines and BanKo-Perlas.
Pau Soriano and Rosemarie Vargas added 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for Cool Smashers, while Jia Morado had 36 excellent sets.
Iari Yongco, hero of the third set win, fired 18 points for Air Force, which dropped to 1-1.
