    Creamline rises from a set down to beat winless Motolite

    DEFENDING champion Creamline recovered from a poor start, beating Motolite, 13-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23, for its third straight win in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan.

    Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin led the charge with 17 points, all coming from attacks, while making 12 digs and eight excellent receptions as Creamline improved to 3-1 to take the solo second place behind unbeaten leader PetroGazz (5-0).

    Alyssa Valdez delivered eight spikes and five services aces for 13 points on top of 14 digs.

    Jia Morado made 22 excellent sets as the Cool Smashers gave coach Tai Bundit a victory in his return. The Cool Smashers fired Chinese coach Huanning Li after the opening loss and scored back-to-back wins under assistant coach Ed Ortega.

    “I think we knew what we’re doing wrong and our mistakes in the first set which was the reception,” Valdez said. “Jia couldn’t set sa mga spikers so yun talaga. We really focused on how we can do better in receiving so it was better naman in second to third sets.”

    Creamline will wrap up its first round on Wednesday against winless BaliPure (0-3).

    Import Channon Thompson had 23 points on top of 19 excellent receptions and seven digs for Motolite, winless in four matches.

    Krsytle Esdelle had 11 points for Motolite, which committed 35 errors.

    Motolite faces BaliPure on Sunday at 4 p.m.
