CREAMLINE dethroned Myla Pablo-less Pocari Sweat-Air Force, 25-15, 25-18, 25-16, to book the first finals ticket in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Cool Smashers, who came from a straight-set loss in Game One of the best-of-three semis series, came back with a four-set win to even the series and drag the Lady Warriors to a do-or-die match.
Tied at 14-all in the third set, Creamline cruised to a 9-2 run to finish the match.
Pablo sustained a back injury during the warm up and never came back for Pocari Sweat-Air Force.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin and skipper Alyssa Valdez led the way for Creamline with 15 points apiece, while Risa Sato added 10.
“Iba ‘yung pinagtyagaan rin and all the sacrifices and all the siguro injuries dumaan na sa team namain but hopefully going to the finals mas malessen na ang injuries going to the finals,” said Valdez.
“More than the loss na ma-sad kami hindi eh, ‘yun ang nagfuel sa amin para makarating kami dito sa finals,” she added.
For the first time in two years, Valdez returned to the Finals.
It was in the 2016 Reinforced Conference when Valdez last made it to the title match and it has been three years since she won a title with PLDT in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference.
American imports Ari Love and Madeline Palmer made 11 and nine points, respectively, for the Lady Warriors, who were relegated to the battle for third against the loser of the match between BanKo Perlas and PayMaya.
