CREAMLINE defeated Petro Gazz, 25-18, 25-16, 25-13, to get its title bid going in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Returning Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin scored 17 points for the Cool Smashers.
Skipper Alyssa Valdez added 14 points and former college rival Michele Gumabao had nine markers.
“It’s kind of weird but it’s nice talaga na there’s a lot of healthy competition inside the court and I think we siguro nilalabas namin ‘yung best in everyone because of that healthy competition,” said Valdez, a former Ateneo star.
Gumabao, a three-time La Salle champion, is glad to see action with a new club, under coach Tai Bundit.
“Ako nakakatuwa lang kasi lahat kami nagje-jell,” she said. “‘Yung effort ng bawat isa, makikita mo talaga inside the court and ‘yun lang naman ang gusto namin na lumabas lahat ng pina-practice namin.”
Creamline shares the early lead with PayMaya, which defeated Petro Gazz in the opener.
Estonian import Kadi Kullerkann scored 11 for Petro Gazz.
