A ‘good problem ’ beckons for Creamline ahead of the 2024 PVL Invitational Conference finals against either Cignal or defending champion Kurashiki Ablaze.
With all Alas Pilipinas players released to their PVL clubs on Sunday, Creamline now has its former MVP, Finals MVP and five-time best outside spiker back in the squad: Jema Galanza.

The dilemma, however, now lies on whether the Cool Smashers still need to field in another offensive weapon to a rock-solid rotation led by reigning PVL MVP Bernadeth Pons, Michele Gumabao and American import Erica Staunton that has worked wonders in both Reinforced and Invitational Conferences thus far.
Or will it be best for Creamline to ‘not fix what isn’t broken’ and save Galanza’s services for the forthcoming All-Filipino Conference which is slated to be a six-month-long tournament starting November?
Such a decision still hangs in the balance, as per Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Pag-memeeting-an pa namin ‘yung about sa mga Alas players,” said Meneses.
“Hopefully, makalaro si Jema kasi siyempre gustong-gusto na rin maglaro ng bata at alam ko naman makakatulong siya sa’min (pero) mag-dedecide pa kami.”
Creamline's time to rest
May it be with Galanza who just finished national team duties or a Creamline squad that has played through tight schedules for nearly two months now, rest remains a must.
And even if there won’t be 24 hours between their Invitational Conference prelims finale and title game, Meneses will make it a point for the Cool Smashers to get the rest they need while still being locked in for what could be their Grand Slam-clinching 10th PVL title.
“‘Yung mindset ng mga players, nandyan naman lagi. Nu’ng nag-start ‘yung Reinforced Conference, alam naman nilang dire-diretso talaga ‘yung games so ready naman sila,” Meneses said.
“Pero siyempre, mas gusto naming makapagpahinga talaga before the finals at I think magagawa namin.
“Finals na so no excuse na ‘yan kasi ‘yung kalaban mo, maglalaro din naman eh. Wala nang excuse yan. ‘Yung pagod tiisin kasi finals na ‘yan.”
