CREAMLINE completed a 16-game elimination-round sweep with a 25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16 victory over Motolite in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Jema Galanza delivered 23 points to accomplish the double-round elimination sweep for the Cool Smashers, who continued to miss the dynamic duo Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado due to their women’s national team commitment.
“Siyempre happy medyo nakulangan lang ngayong game kasi ang daming errors so medyo naano lang ako na good sana yung tapos ng elimination,” said Galanza, who fired 20 kills and three aces for 23 points on top of 21 excellent receptions as they survived with 32 errors.
“But okay naman din kasi hindi nagbago yung confidence namin talagang yung happiness namin sa loob ng court tuloy tuloy pa rin naman,” she added.
Michele Gumabao was also instrumental with 14 points. Pau Soriano and Rose Vargas chipped in eight markers each, while setter Kyle Negrito had 23 excellent sets on top of five hits.
The Cool Smashers clinched the top spot with a perfect 16-0 record before facing Motolite, which finished fourth with 10-6 win-loss record, in the best-of-three semifinals series starting on Saturday.
Valdez and Morado will be back in time for the semis as they fly to Manila on Friday, cutting their Tokyo training camp short.
Motolite tried to fight its way back as Tots Carlos and Myla Pablo took the extended third set only for Creamline to catch fire in the fourth and end the match in one hour and 55 minutes.
Pablo put up 14 points for Motolite, while Carlos and Aie Gannaban added 11 and 10 points, respectively in losing effort.
