Skipping PH duty not wasted as Alyssa, Morado lead Creamline past Choco Mucho

    Oct 5, 2019

CREAMLINE stopped Choco Mucho‘s four-game winning streak with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 demolition to stay perfect in 12 games in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City.

National team stars Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado, who came off a three-set win over Vietnam in the ASEAN Grand Prix last Friday in Sta. Rosa Laguna, helped the Cool Smashers send the Flying Titans crashing back to earth and secure the first semifinals berth with an immaculate 12-0 card.

Valdez played all three sets and finished with nine markers on top of nine digs and eight excellent receptions, while Morado had 13 excellent sets and three markers as Creamline completed an elimination round sweep on its sister team.

Jema Galanza shone in front of the Ilonggo fans with game-high 16 points as well as Michele Gumabao firing four aces for 12 markers.

“It helps that we’re playing in the second round, meaning it’s easier to read our opponents game this time,” said Gumabao. “But it’s all about preparation, scouting and we always give our best against the rest.”

Valdez and Morado flew back to Manila right after the match for the Philippines’ last match against Indonesia on Sunday for the silver medal of the ASEAN Grand Prix.
