CREAMLINE won a rare bronze medal by sweeping Cignal, 25-17, 27-29, 25-17, in the 2025 PVL on Tour battle for third on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Cool Smashers avenged a shock straight-sets loss to the HD Spikers in the preliminary round by returning the favor to extend their record podium streak to 18 PVL tournaments.
Creamline still hasn’t finished a single conference without a medal since the league and club’s inception in 2017.
It now has four PVL bronze medals in eight years, the last coming in the 2022 Reinforced Conference.
The 10-time PVL champions have also won nine of their last 10 matches against Cignal, improving to a 5-1 record in playoff matches.
Michele Gumabao had her best scoring game yet for the Cool Smashers in the preseason with 21 points built on 16 attacks, three blocks and two aces.
Alyssa Valdez delivered in the endgame, including the bronze-clinching attack, 12 points and seven receptions, backed by Jema Galanza's near triple-double with 13 points, 12 receptions and eight digs.
Creamline's game of runs
The Cool Smashers came out swinging with a game-high 12-point lead in the opening set and even managed to erase a 21-24 second-frame deficit.
Led by Heather Guino-o's 13 and Erika Santos' 12, Cignal had six set points on hand in Set 2, only to be overturned by Gumabao's power hit to convert Creamline's one and only set point.
Creamline refused to extend the match any further as it fired seven unanswered points from 18-17 ahead to complete the podium-clinching sweep.
