JULIA Coronel now has a win to her name as a pro.
The Alas Pilipinas playmaker orchestrated Galeries Tower’s victorious 26-24, 25-14, 25-23 stand over Capital1 on Saturday in Cebu.

It would be the team’s first win in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after an eight-month, 14-game skid.
For Coronel, the breakthrough came at the expense of her former La Salle teammates Leila Cruz and Jenya Torres over a week since losing to Thea Gagate’s on-the-rise ZUS Coffee side.

As she continues to find her groove in the PVL, every chance she gets to share the court in ‘friendly competitions’ with her ex-Taft cohorts is nothing short of an honor for her.
“‘Yung former teammates ko, si Leila and Jenya, I’m actually really happy na katapat ko sila. Parang friendly competition lang din,” said Coronel
“I’m just so happy also to see their growth as players, ngayon na baon nila lahat ng pinaghirapan nila sa college to the pros.”
Coronel's first of many
The 23-year-old setter isn’t just keen on many more battles with those whom she once shared the same side of the court back in the day.

From a team standpoint, Coronel has high hopes that their breakthrough win will pave the way for a breakout campaign as the league’s longest-ever conference runs its course.
“I’m just really thankful kay God and I’m just super happy that we finally got our first win.”
Coronel added, “We’re really hoping to get many, many more wins this conference and siyempre, paghihirapan pa talaga namin ‘yun.
