FORMER volleyball player Cindy Imbo is facing her biggest battle yet.
The 30-year-old Dumaguete native was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of blood cancer aimed at the lymphatic system which weakens the body’s defense mechanism against infections.
From Perps to the big leagues
Imbo began her volleyball career with University of Perpetual Help in the NCAA before carving her path to commercial leagues.
She went on to play for F2 Logistics, Sta. Lucia, and Philippine Navy in the defunct Philippine Superliga (PSL).
Shortly after her PSL run, Imbo suited up in the PVL with Choco Mucho.

Life after volleyball saw Imbo serve the country as part of the Philippine Coast Guard.

A jersey bidding initiative is underway in which all proceeds will be for Imbo’s chemotherapy treatment in her fight against cancer.
