CIGNAL continued to make noise after a relatively silent offseason, grinding out a 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, 25-18 win over Choco Mucho in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Playtime Filoil Centre.

The Super Spikers wavered in the second set, where the Flying Titans rode on scoring spurts from Sisi Rondina and Eya Laure to level the match. That proved to be a brief detour as Cignal was quick to reassert control in the longer rallies.

Unfazed by a crowd rooting for Choco Mucho, the Super Spikers finished off the Flying Titans from there to become the first team to reach two wins this conference.

Erika Santos continued to show fine form after her MVP run in the preseason, leading the way for Cignal with her 18 points on 14 attacks, two blocks and two aces.

Vanie Gandler also made her presence felt on both ends, finishing with 16 points and eight receptions as Cignal kept its foot on the pedal throughout the four-set grind.

“We worked really hard and we continue to work very hard so I’m just happy that everything we train and prepare for are all showing in the games,” said Gandler.

Setter Gel Cayuna pulled the strings masterfully, dishing out 23 excellent sets that allowed Cignal’s offense to flow with ease.

Middle blocker Jackie Acuña was a major beneficiary, erupting for 13 points highlighted by four kill blocks that repeatedly stalled Choco Mucho’s momentum at the net.

    Titans stumble hard

Choco Mucho’s newly formed star duo delivered on both offense and floor defense with imposing double-doubles.

Sisi Rondina led all scorers with 20 points to go along with 16 receptions, while Eya Laure backed her up with an all-around line of 11 points, 15 receptions and eight digs.

Solid support also came from Lorraine Pecaña, who chipped in 12 points, and veteran Dindin Santiago-Manabat with 10, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Cignal’s poise and execution in the crucial moments.

The defeat marked the Flying Titans’ first setback of the conference, as they struggled to sustain the same control they showed in their debut sweep of Galeries Tower.
