CIGNAL has cut Greek import Eva Chantava loose after just two games in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
The first mid-conference import switch in the league’s pro era saw the Super Spikers part ways with Chantava following back-to-back losses to begin her short-lived PVL run.
The 34-year-old winger normed 11.5 points with a meager 26.83 percent attacking success rate in her opening defeats to Choco Mucho and Farm Fresh.
Shaq explains
Cignal head coach Shaq delos Santos briefly explained how the tough decision sprunf as a result of thorough internal discussions behind closed doors.
"Nagkaroon kami talaga ng matinding deliberation regarding du'n sa nangyari. Nag-decide nga 'yung management na mag-part ways na lang muna," delos Santos said.
"We're so thankful din kay Eva du'n sa effort, time and motivation na binigay niya sa'min. 'Yun lang muna 'yung masasabi ko."
As reported by SPIN.ph on Monday, 25-year-old Slovakian winger Katrin Trebichavská has been tapped as the replacement import of a winless Cignal side.
Her last tour of duty before the PVL was with the State University of New York Buffalo Bulls in the US NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference from 2022 to 2025.
The formal reason for the import switch-up remains uncertain, as well as Trebichavská’s expected debut date for the Super Spikers.
The move will only be green-lit by the league if Chantava’s exit is due to medical reasons or either abandonment or breach of contract.
Against the odds, an import-less Cignal side still found it in them to complete a 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 stunner over PLDT led by ex-High Speed Hitter Erika Santos' 17 points.
