BACARRA, Ilocos Norte — Cignal turned back Sta. Lucia, 25-22, 25-18, 13-25, 25-20, for its first victory in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference on Wednesday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center.
Janine Marciano and Rachel Anne Daquis showed the way as the HD Spikers bounced back from a three-set loss to Chery Tiggo on Monday.
Marciano had 14 points and May Luna scored 10.
Roselyn Doria provided five of Cignal’s nine blocks and four of their eight aces to finish with 14 points.
Daquis had eight markers, 10 excellent receptions and nine digs.
Norielle Ipac added eight markers.
“Mabilis ng adjustment namin. Imagine one day lang yung wala kaming laro and then may laro na ulit. Good thing din kahit papano lumalabas din yung naging preparation namin,” said Cignal coach Shaq de los Santos.
“Hopefully, mas mag improve pa kasi talagang nasa process kami ng transition ng team so sipag lang din.”
Sta. Lucia, which committed 28 errors, dropped to 1-2 for sixth spot in the 10-team tournament.
MJ Phillips led the Lady Realtors with 20 points. Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had 15 points and 14 digs, while Jovielyn Prado came off the bench to fire five aces, finishing with 11 points.
