CHOCO Mucho scored an all-important win over the Petro Gazz Angels, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 18-25, 15-10 to stay in the hunt for a semifinals ticket in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference, Saturday in Pasig City.

This win meant that the Flying Titans forced a grudge match against the Cignal HD Spikers on the final day of the preliminary round, while Petro Gazz’s semis hopes are now hinged upon the results of the teams above them.
Sisi Rondina exploded anew as she put up 29 points off of 25 attacks and four aces to help Choco Mucho move up to second place in Pool B.
Caitlin Viray also continued to be the Flying Titan’s x-factor in this conference, supplying 12 points which included some clutch plays in the fifth set.
“Sinabi ko lang sa kanila [teammates] na buhos tayo, every set. May mga sets din na ma-uupset, pero ang ginawa namin talaga is mag-bounce back talaga. We got each other’s back and every time na may chance kami, sabi lang ni Des [Cheng] na kailangan namin i-convert into points para hindi na tayo mahirapan,” said Rondina.
“Very happy na maganda yung game namin today, and hopefully madala namin the following games namin,” added Viray.
Despite losing their two set lead, the Flying Titans were unfazed and shored up their offense in the deciding set as they went on a 7-2 scoring run to shut out the Angels.
After the riveting five sets, Choco Mucho mentor Dante Alinsunurin commended his girls for showing resolve down the stretch.
“Umpisa palang, bago kami pumasok sa court, sinabi ko na sa mga players ko na kailangan naming manalo para makatawid kami sa semifinal round. Nag-deliver naman sila kung ano man yung in-game adjustments, nakuha kaagad namin.”

Jonah Sabete and Grethcel Soltones led Petro Gazz in scoring today by notching 16 and 15 points respectively as they dropped to a 3-2 record.
