    Choco Mucho survives five-set match against winless Chef’s Classics

    KAT Tolentino scored 36 points as Choco Mucho ended a five-match slide, beating winless Chef’s Classics, 32-34, 25-12, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11, on Saturday in the PVL Open Conference at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.

    The Filipina-Canadian hitter took charge for Choco Mucho as Maddie Madayag plays for the Philippine women’s volleyball team in the Asean Grand Prix in Thailand.

    Tolentino had 28 kills, five aces and three blocks to set another conference-high in points, surpassing her 33-point explosion in a losing effort against Motolite on Sept. 15.

    The Flying Titans improved their win-loss record to 3-6 for seventh place.

    Shannen Palec added 14 points, Kim Gequillana scored 13 and made 14 digs and 14 excellent receptions, while Erika Alkuino added 10 markers.

    Libero Bang Pineda had 25 digs and 11 receives, while Acy Masangkay made 44 excellent sets on top of five hits for the Flying Titans.

    Nieza Viray scored 18 points and made 15 digs and 11 excellent receptions, while Iris Oliveros had 17 markers off 11 kills, four blocks and two aces only for the Lady Red Spikers, winless in 10 outings.
