THE 18th edition of the ‘Rebisco Clasico’ will carry the highest stakes yet, as most of the 16 possible scenarios point to only one of Creamline or Choco Mucho making it through to the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference finals.

Entering Thursday’s semis finale, the Cool Smashers split their first two assignments in single-round robin play at 1-1 with a four-set loss to Petro Gazz and a straight-sets win over Akari.

On the other hand, a win continues to elude the Flying Titans through two tries after a crushing five-set loss to the Chargers then and a four-set defeat at the hands of the Angels.

However, a huge part of the stakes for this semis edition of the ‘Rebisco Clasico’ will depend on how the Akari-Petro Gazz match plays out.

If the Angels and Cool Smashers win their respective assignments, regardless of how many sets it will take, then the two champion teams will advance to what will be their fifth all-time finals matchup.

Either a Choco Mucho loss or a Chargers win will automatically relegate the former to the battle for third.

The rest of today’s semis scenarios are available here, but at least for this matter, how are the odds looking for the Flying Titans to keeping their title dream alive against the Cool Smashers?

Historically, not good. There is, however, a promising dash of hope.

Choco Mucho has only ever won once in 17 all-time matches with Creamline since 2019 when the former joined the league.

The only time the Flying Titans came out on top was in their 13th face-off which was, coincidentally, in the single-round robin semifinals of last year’s All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena.

And it took them five pulsating sets to do so, 13-25, 19-25, 21-25, 20-25, 18-16.
