STA. ROSA CITY — Choco Mucho improved its league-best record to seven wins in eight matches by taking down Capital1, 25-15, 25-16, 25-21, in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the City of Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.
Sisi Rondina took charge with 13 points built on 12 attacks and one block as the Flying Titans took solo first place provisionally ahead of the match between defending champion Creamline and PLDT, which hold identical 6-1 (win-loss) cards.
Solar Spikers bow out
The Solar Spikers’ seventh defeat marked the end of their playoff chase, with only one win to date in their debut conference.
“Happy ako sa naging laro namin kasi halos lahat nagamit ngayon. Kung ano yung mga gusto naming gawin sa loob ng court, na-mamaximize namin. Kahit sinong ipasok namin nagde-deliver, yun naman yung importante sa team namin.
“Sabi ko nga, in terms of pangangailangan namin sa mga players namin, kapag crucial, meron kaming huhugutin,” said Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsurin.
The Flying Titans rolled the dice with a setter swap featuring Deanna Wong, who chalked up nine excellent sets and two points in her longest on-court outing eight matches into the conference since being relegated to a bench role.
Isa Molde (nine points) and middle blockers Maddie Madayag and Cherry Nunag contributed eight markers each — accounting for the lion’s share of 43 attacks in the one-and-a-half hour contest witnessed live by 5,444 fans.

Also aiding the Flying Titans’ cause were their limited errors (12 in three sets) on top of 39 digs (19 from Thang Ponce) and 20 receptions (eight from Rondina) to cap a clean two-way display.
Leading the way for the also-ran Solar Spikers were team captain Jorelle Singh with 13 points and ace spiker Jannine Navarro with 11.
